Dan is struggling with his self confidence. Well, let's be honest. Dan has no self confidence and struggles to face the harsh realities of life and the pessimistic thoughts and voices that inhabit and nag his brain constantly. Phil tries to help his friend to realize that he really isn't as much as a monster as he thinks of himself to be. These two friends embark on a journey of love, hate, discovery, and confusion. And will they even still be friends by the end of the journey? Will Dan's turmoil break apart their friendship or turn it into something more? The year is 2020, Phil is a bullied outcast. He only has three friends Chris Kendall, Tyler Oakley, and Joe Sugg. He's been to the nurse's office so many times he can practically call it a second home. Dan is apart of the popular clique but he isn't like them at all. Dan is a kind person and he doesn't like judging anyone no matter what. He only has three real friends Pj Liguori, Troye Sivan, and Zoella Sugg. Everyone else is what he just calls the "Fakes" They both know the other person exists but Phil would never make an attempt to talk to Dan. Dan on the other hand is always the one to carry Phil to the clinic after the bullies leave him barely breathing. There are two problems... One is that Phil doesn't know who helps him out while he's unconscious. The second is that every time Phil gets hurt half of the injuries go to Dan's skin too. Or where... Phil is bullied and Dan helps him out but keeps his identity a secret. Plus when everyone is a baby you and your soulmate can feel each others pain and sometimes take it away. Maybe that's why every time Phil get's bullied half of the bruises go to Dan.

Dan always seems normal. He is kind to his friends and loves all things nerdy, which is why kids find him an easy target. But what most people don't know, is that he is trapped in a deep state of depression that he can't get out of, thanks to the death of his father, his alcoholic step-father, the bullies at school, and the fact that everyone knows his deepest darkest secret about his sexuality, he is bi-sexual. But things suddenly change when the curious, over-enthusiastic and light-hearted new kid, Phil Lester makes his way into Dan's life, and slowly into Dan's heart and he teaches that everyone deserves a chance to be happy, and everyone has a reason to live, even if he and Phil's lives aren't perfect. *Warning!!
